The urbanization of cities in the Amazon was the main topic of the fourth edition of Live Amazônia Brasileira .
Aiming to reinforce the debate on the topics covered in the fourth volume of the Series “Brazilian Amazon: Integrated Territorial Perspectives and Vision of the Future” , Live brought fundamental discussions raised from the content of “ Territorios: Metrópoles na Floresta ”, the last volume released.
Produced by Centro de Estudos Synergia, the publication continues the discussions started in the previous three volumes, and was dedicated to indigenist Bruno Pereira and journalist Dom Phillips – murdered in the Amazon in the same period in which the edition was prepared.
And to address the topic of metropolises and the urbanization of cities in the Amazon, Live was mediated by Mario Vasconcellos – anthropologist, project coordinator and leader of the Synergia Study Center – and with the participation of representatives from the region :

Manaus Free Trade Zone and Belém , the two main Amazonian cities, were highlighted in the discussion. The guests brought their perspectives on the urbanization process of the two territories , considering fundamental aspects of the region, such as the incidence of subnormal agglomerations, the problem of sanitation and violence.
The relationship between urban space and nature in territories , the daily challenges of living in non-urbanized areas and the challenges faced by urbanized areas that faced unregulated growth were guidelines brought to the conversation.
