The Mover Program had the challenge of ensuring that Anglo American’s Human Resources sector was able to mobilize 3 thousand workers in 1 year. In addition, the idea was to relocate 1,200 high school students to the Minas-Rio project jobs, which should be filled with local labor.
Part of this workforce, focused on specific mining activities, should be trained through courses held by SENAI. However, the number of interested parties mobilized was small and most of the students abandoned the course before its completion, or were unable to follow it, due to accumulated learning deficits.
In addition to this context is an apprehension of the peaceful local community caused by the intense social movement of thousands of construction workers, occupying hotels, inns, houses, and boosting the infrastructure of trade and services in a disorderly manner.
The challenge, therefore, was to mobilize the target audience, ensure pedagogical reinforcement and engagement in SENAI courses and, at the same time, empower the population, mostly rural, to occupy the open spaces for the provision of services and products to the mining company. and to supply the demand generated by the new social dynamics.
As a solution, a social network for local development was created with educational actions aimed at attracting and qualifying potential local workers and entrepreneurs. The project was supported by an itinerant unit mounted on a bus (Mover Bus), equipped with 16 computers and internet access. Through it, it was possible to provide courses with a focus on digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, professionalization and reinforcement in the Portuguese language and mathematics disciplines.
A large census survey was carried out, surveying the main demands for knowledge and income generation potential of the municipalities affected by the project (Conceição do Mato Dentro, Dom Joaquim and Alvorada de Minas), guiding the choice of courses and the logistics of itinerant activities.
